David J. Rogers
Art has always played a major role in my life since early childhood. My art career began with my first portrait commission in 1980. Since that time I have completed portraits and other commissioned pieces for clients all over the United States. Although I've never recieved any formal art training of any kind, I have found that I am better able to express myself with a paintbrush than in any other way imaginable. Unless I'm working on a commissioned piece, I paint what-ever I feel like painting. It's at those times, more often than not, that I feel myself drawn to the ocean. Fortunately, watercolor lends itself perfectly to capturing that feeling without losing any of the realism or detail which is the signature of my work. The satisfaction for me is knowing that others are able to view my work and feel the same way I did when I painted it. As long as I'm able to make that connection, I guess I'll always continue to paint.
